OPEN • SET Competition Winners

Nearly two years ago, I blogged excitedly about the announcement of OPEN • SET, a new international bookbinding competition.

Lots of bookbinding-related things happened between then and now: auctions, competitions, exhibitions, book fairs, awards, and even a few blogs posts. All that time, I was eagerly awaiting the results of the OPEN • SET competition judging. When the winners were announced, I tweeted and wrote about it on Facebook, but I failed to blog about the winners and exhibition locations and dates. Today I am correcting the omission. And the Winners Are…Part 2

Do over!

It has come to my attention that I failed to provide any information about the content of the winning bindings. Now I have that information. I also have physical descriptions. Unfortunately for many of us, they are in Spanish. On the up side, for the linguistically challenged (me), we can consult the Multilingual Bookbinding and Conservation Dictionary (Google Translate is completely useless and sometimes hilarious). I also omitted the award for the Best Binding by an Argentinian.

And the Winners Are…

Remember back in February I announced the Second EARA International Bookbinding Competition run out of Buenos Aires, Argentina?

The winners were revealed on November 14th. Thanks to one of the sponsors, Eduardo Tarrico, I have the pleasure of showing pictures of the winning bindings. Keep an eye on these binders. They are going places.
